CTCS Knowledge Platform
A documentation site that explains California's Clean Truck Check program to fleet operators, built and shipped on my own in two weeks and editable by non-developers through a CMS.
Overview
Alongside the compliance platform, the client needed a public place that explains the Clean Truck Check program, how remote monitoring works, and what the service costs. I built it as a documentation site: a searchable knowledge base with six sections (Clean Truck Check, Remote Monitoring, RV Monitoring, Compliance, Pricing and Policies, Technical Information) plus an FAQ, with light, dark and auto themes.
The business idea
Fleet operators arrive with the same questions over and over: what the program requires, what the device does, what it costs. A clear, searchable knowledge base answers those up front, so the founder spends less time repeating himself and customers understand the service before they sign up.
Goals
- Explain the regulation and the service in plain language for fleet owners
- Make the content easy to find with navigation by topic and full-text search
- Let the client update articles himself without touching code
- Ship a complete first version in two weeks
Tech stack
Key features
- Six topic sections and an FAQ, organized as a documentation site with a sidebar tree and an on-page table of contents
- Every article opens with a structured header: knowledge ID, program area, topic type, reading time, last-reviewed date, who it applies to, and a link to the official CARB source
- A 'Quick answer' box at the top of each article, so a reader gets the point before the detail
- Built-in search, plus light, dark and auto themes
- Content authored in Markdown and edited through a Decap CMS interface
- Placeholder section for RV Monitoring so new areas can be added without restructuring
